Cobit – How to measure whether IT processes are delivering what the business needs

The Control Objectives for Information and related Technology (Cobit) is an IT governance framework that provides clear links between IT processes and business goals. Issued by the IT Governance Institute (ITGI) www.itgi.org, Cobit is a set of guidelines IT organizations can use to employ management best practices, measure IT processes and align IT with business processes. It has become a recommended tool for IT departments to measure their value to the business, as well as comply with regulations such as SarbOx.

Microsoft Security Assessment – How secure are you?

The Microsoft Security Assessment (MSA) is an online application that uses a security assessment tool and includes an on-site questionnaire designed to help users gain a better understanding of their security gaps and risks. The assessment takes about one to two hours to complete. The assessment provides a user with a broad overview of the company and IT organization and results in a clearly defined map to becoming more secure through prioritized activities, solutions, and prescriptive guidance.

When the assessment is completed, users receive a report with findings and recommendations specific to business issues addressed in the assessment. The report is designed to help users understand a base level of security and prioritize steps to mitigate identified risks.
